Cloud Computing Center

The BVRIT cloud computing center (BVRIT-CCC) was set up in November 2012 with a view to achieve the following:

  • Educate students and faculty members of Sri Vishnu group colleges on Cloud Technology
  • Promote research and projects in the area of Cloud Computing
  • Encourage more collaboration and participation with the industry

SVES has entered into a MoU with Sanada Inc., w.e.f. 01-Nov-2012 to technically support the functioning of the lab. As a part of the MoU Dr. Ada Gavrilovska, senior research scientist of Georgia Tech., supports the working of the lab. This support is achieved through weekly meetings between the BVRIT team and Dr. Ada on Skype.

Events:
Till date, the Center has concentrated on building competency and organizing a number of events with a theme of cloud computing. Highlights of the events organized by the Center till date is summarized below.
The Center introduced Cloud Computing as an elective subject for students in IT IV-II. This elective has been opted for by all students in this batch.
Dr. Ada visited BVRIT two times in the past 1 year – in July 2012 and in February 2013. During these visits, she interacted with the students and faculty of the institute and conducted a number of technical and planning sessions on the Cloud technology.

Projects and student members:

One DST supported project is being currently executed in the BVRIT CCC. The project is entitled “Scalable NO-SQL benchmarks for the Cloud” and the principal investigator for the project is Mrs Sangeeta Gupta (IT).
